Staffordshire Stoneware is an updated version of the original Pyropot recipe, long known for its reliability and performance. The body is formulated from a blend of ball clays, fireclays, and red marls.
It contains fireclay extracted from Potclays’ own site in South Staffordshire near Walsall. A high proportion of ball clay provides excellent plasticity, making this body particularly easy to throw. The fireclay contributes refractory strength, while the red marls create the distinctive subtle iron fleck in the fired surface.
Firing to a warm buff tone, this stoneware body is especially suited to domestic ware and oven-to-table items.
