Premium Buff is a 2022 reformulation of several long-standing Potclays buff bodies (Buff School Clay 151-1120, 151-1124 Sanded Buff, and Buff Stoneware 151-1117), which were discontinued when a key raw material became unavailable.
This updated recipe contains a higher proportion of premium raw materials, including Coombe Fireclay – a unique, iron-rich fireclay sourced exclusively by Potclays from the Birch Coppice mine in South Staffordshire. At stoneware temperatures, Coombe produces a subtle light fleck that characterises the fired surface.
