Buy Now, Pay Later on kilns - Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions govern the purchase of kilns from The Pottery People using our deposit-based payment option. By placing an order and paying the deposit, you agree to the terms outlined below.

1. Deposit Payment

To secure your kiln order, a non-refundable deposit of £250 is required.
This deposit confirms your commitment to purchase and allows us to commence the kiln build process.

  • The deposit applies to a specific kiln model, as indicated at checkout or in your confirmation email.

  • Only one deposit may be placed per customer unless otherwise agreed in writing.

2. Total Price and Payment Structure

  • Kilns typically range from £3,000 to £3,800, depending on model and specification.

  • The remaining balance must be paid via bank transfer in full before your kiln is dispatched.

  • We offer the option to split the remaining balance into up to three instalments, with payment intervals agreed in writing after your deposit is received.

  • We will send reminder emails for each payment; however, it is the customer’s responsibility to ensure payments are made on time.

3. Build Time and Completion

  • Average kiln build time is 7–8 weeks from the date of deposit.

  • We define “completion” as the date your kiln is ready for dispatch.

  • You will be notified of completion via email, which will include the payment deadline. This email will serve as the formal confirmation that your kiln is complete.

4. Payment Deadlines

  • You have until 8 weeks after the deposit OR 7 days after the completion email is sent (whichever is later) to pay the balance in full.

  • Your kiln will not be shipped until payment is received in full.

  • If payment is not made by the deadline, we will attempt to contact you by email and phone on three separate occasions. If no payment or agreement is received, we reserve the right to cancel your order and reallocate the kiln. Your deposit will be forfeited.

  • If your kiln is completed earlier than expected, you will still have until the full 8-week period from your deposit date to complete payment. However, if the 8-week mark has passed, you must pay the remaining balance within 7 days of receiving the completion email.

5. Cancellation & Refund Policy

You may cancel your order at any time, but the £250 deposit is non-refundable unless:

  1. Delivery takes longer than 10 weeks from the date of your deposit (unless otherwise agreed).

  2. We cancel the order due to production, supplier, or availability issues.

  3. The kiln model becomes unavailable or discontinued before completion.

  4. A significant material cost increase (over 10%) arises and you decline to proceed at the updated price.

If one of the above conditions is met, you are entitled to a full refund of your deposit.

6. Customer Responsibilities

  • You must provide accurate and complete contact information, including a valid delivery address and active email.

  • You are responsible for reviewing the order confirmation and ensuring all information is correct.

  • Instalment payment schedules will be agreed in writing after your deposit is received. Final payment must be made before the applicable deadline outlined in Section 4.

  • We will send reminders, but it remains your responsibility to complete all payments on time.

7. Delivery

  • Delivery is included in the kiln price.

  • Kilns are delivered via a pallet courier with next-day delivery arranged once the kiln is ready.

  • We do not offer delivery to PO Boxes or addresses outside the United Kingdom.

8. Warranty

All kilns are covered by a 3-year manufacturer's warranty against defects in materials or workmanship. Full warranty details are available upon request.

9. Data Protection

Your personal data will be handled in accordance with the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018. We will never sell or share your information with third parties, except where required to process your order or arrange delivery.

10. Disputes and Legal Jurisdiction

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.
By placing an order, you agree to resolve any disputes first through informal communication with The Pottery People. If unresolved, disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the UK courts.

11. Acceptance of Terms

By paying the deposit, you confirm that:

  • You have read and understood these Terms and Conditions

  • You agree to complete payment as described

  • You accept that the deposit is non-refundable except under the conditions listed in Section 5
